| Private Music Lessons In order to achieve proper education in voice and musical instruments, we have a set range of ages that children may start. Reasons for this are development of the lungs, coordination, and size of the instrument. For piano and keyboard lessons, we require our students to be at least 5 years old. All other instrument and voice lessons require the student to be 9 years old. We offer classes for all ages 3- adult in music. Homework is given for the student to practice between lessons in order improve more thoroughly. To make practicing easier, set up a designated time each day, repeat, and reward yourself. How do you register? In order to have your own thirty-minute private lesson once a week, we ask that you come to the studio to register. We require a two-month commitment to get you started, and then you can pay by the month for the remaining time you take private lessons. Prices are $200 for the first two months with a $15 registration fee, and $100 every month following. Once you have registered and paid, we reserve a designated time that you attend each week. Make-ups for missed classes are scheduled in a time slot open from another students absence. We offer quarterly GROUP classes on Saturday mornings for all other absences that cannot be scheduled. We have a great staff of music instructors that will evaluate you during your first lesson and provide you with required learning materials at fair prices. We continue assessments on your progress with written reports to show areas of improvement and areas where extra work is needed. Students are required to have their own instrument, with the exception of pianos. Lessons are held here at the Derby Dance and Music Arts studio in a smaller more private room where you will recieve one-on-one instruction without any interruptions. We have a monitoring system for parents who wish to watch their child from the lobby. We offer instruction in voice, flute, guitar (& related instruments), violin, viola ( related strings), cello, piano, trumpet and saxophone. Recitals are planned and held at various locations throughout the year: usually in conjunction with a dance performance. Instructors work with the student to decide when the student is ready to perform in the recital. The music program follows a nine-month program from the fall to spring and a two-month program in the summer. We will provide you with a calendar of events and regular newsletters so you know when any breaks occur and when the studio is closed. Call us and come into the studio to register!!!! 475-0625 |
