NEW SESSION Jan. 9-Feb. 27, 2012 Mondays 7:00-8:00     Tango 1 Class All the fundamentals: progressed class of tango attitude, frame, walk, basic movements and floor craft. Parallel and cross feet, as well as close embrace and a more open frame will be contrasted.  Milonga & vals will also be introduced.  With practice after 8 weeks, both lead & follow should feel confident in enjoying a connected Argentine tango dance at a social milonga in Colorado Springs, Denver or Buenos Aires. Cost:  $100/person or $190/couple (plus $15 registration fee for new students) Mondays 8:00-9:10 pm    Tango 2  Class MUSICALITY:  Rod will devote all 8 classes to his approach to tango musicality.  Just as different words and phrases are used in spoken language to communicate, so also can different movements be used in a tango dance to respond to variations in timing, tempo, pauses and mood of tango music.  Each week, the class will take a different song, break it down, analyze and rod will offer movements that complement the elements.  Movements from Rod's previous classes over the last several years will be used, showing places in the dance to use them.  Cost: $100/person or $190/couple (plus $15 registration fee for new students) Experienced dancers can drop in $15/person per class or $25/person for both classes (2 hours) PRIVATE LESSONS by appointment at Derby Dance & Music Arts 1759 S. 8th St., Broadmarket Sq., Bldg. Nancy & Rod Derby traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina in March 2006 to study more of the art of Tango and have brought back a wealth of knowledge to share with their students!  In July of 2007, Rod & Nancy studied with Argentine masters: Gustavo & Giselle in Boulder for a week of workshops.  The styles and culture that is ever changing and ever familiar can now be learned at Derby Dance & Music Arts.  Come learn what dancing is like in the heart of Argentina!

DANCEWEAR Shoes for MEN and Women are available at the studio for tango classes.  Dancewear is casual.  Women should wear either pants or shorter skirts (NOT full length) as seeing the legs is important for the technique of learning Argentine Tango.  Beautiful shoes for both men and women are also available at Assemble Dancewear.
